Welcome
Welcome to the official Thunderclap Newman Website. Formed in 1969, Pete Townshend of The Who, introduced Speedy Keen to GPO Telephone Engineer Andy “Thunderclap” Newman and teenage guitarist Jimmy McCulloch. Pete produced and played bass on the classic single “Something in the Air”, recorded them at his studio and introduced them to his manager Kit Lambert and Chris Stamp who ran and owned Track Records. An Album, “Hollywood Dream” followed, also recorded and produced by Pete with him on Bass. The Band ceased in Late 1971 with Speedy going on to produce two solo albums and a single. He also produced the first Motorhead album and also co-produced, with Danny Secunda of “Twist” fame, LAMF by Johnny Thunders and the heartbreakers. He sadly passed away in March 2002. Jimmy McCulloch afterwards played and toured with, John Mayall and Stone the Crows, before joining Paul McCartney and Wings in 1974. In 1978 he joined the reformed Small Faces before joining The Dukes. He died tragically in in September 1979.
