Welcome
Welcome to the official Thunderclap Newman website. Formed in 1969, Pete Townshend of The Who introduced Speedy Keen to fellow art student Andy 'Thunderclap' Newman & teenage guitarist Jimmy McCulloch. Pete produced and played bass on the classic single “Something In The Air”, recorded them at his studio and introduced them to his managers Kit Lambert & Chris Stamp who ran and owned Track Records. An album - “Hollywood Dream” followed. The band ceased in the early seventies, with Speedy going on to produce the first Motorhead album and also “LAMF” by Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers. Sadly he passed away in 2003. Jimmy left to join Paul McCartney in Wings.
Andy Newman has formed a new band and this website has been built to help aid it's progress and for long standing fans, a place to come and remember or discover the past and keep up to date with the new line up. Contributions are welcome.
Coming Soon – A Statement from Andy Newman regarding the future of the band will be released shortly. Please check back regularly for updates.
